Cardiovascular disease (CVD) is a common complication of rheumatoid arthritis (RA). This study aimed to explore the risk factors for cardiovascular disease in patients with rheumatoid arthritis and provide a scientific basis for effective prevention and treatments for CVD in RA patients.
A meta-analysis of case-control and cohort studies on risk factors of CVDs in patients with RA published from 2000 to 2022 was performed using RevMan 5.3 and Stata14.0 analysis software.
Seventeen pieces of literature were included in this meta-analysis. The study explored associations between CVD and various clinical characteristics such as DAS28 score, rheumatoid factor, triglyceride, age, sex, C-reactive protein, total cholesterol (TC), hypertension, and D dimer. High serum levels of C-reactive protein, TC, and D-dimer, as well as hypertension, were identified as the main risk factors for CVD in patients with RA.
